On the occasion of the 41st World Consumer Rights Day, on March 15, the Market Supervision Bureau of Bazhong, Sichuan province, held a centralized destruction ceremony of fake and shoddy products.

A total of 1,148 counterfeit, shoddy, expired and deteriorated products were destroyed at the ceremony, with a total weight of 13 tons and a value of more than 360,000 yuan ($52,218.36).

According to Gou Bin, deputy director of the Bazhong Market Supervision Bureau, as of now, the Bazhong Market Supervision System has dispatched a total of 9,918 law enforcement personnel, recovering economic losses of 601,100 yuan for consumers.

At the same time, the Bazhong Market Supervision Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Agency investigated and dealt with a total of 1,122 cases, with a case value of 688,200 yuan and fines of 3.09 million yuan. Ten cases were transferred to and filed by public security organs.
