Symposium marking 90th anniversary of the founding of Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base held in Bazhong

A symposium was held in Bazhong, a city of Southwest China's Sichuan province, on December 18, to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base.

The event was jointly organized by the Second Research Department of the Institute of Party History and Literature of the CPC Central Committee, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Sichuan Provincial CPC Committee, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Chongqing Municipal CPC Committee, the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Shaanxi Provincial CPC Committee, and the Institute of Party History and Literature of the Bazhong Municipal CPC Committee.

The Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base, located on the border between the two provinces, was one of the most heavily populated bases founded by the Red Army of the CPC in 1932. Lasting for two and a half years, it was referred to as "a bridge linking Soviet revolutionary development to the northern and southern banks of the Yangtze River, and between northern and southern China" by late Chairman Mao Zedong.

During the symposium, Bazhong, Guangyuan, Guang'an, Dazhou, Nanchong and Mianyang cities of Sichuan signed an agreement on the building of a pilot zone for revolutionary cultural and a tourism corridor. Bazhong and five other cities will work together to develop and utilize revolutionary culture; build a long-term working mechanism on the protection of revolutionary resources and the development of fine revolutionary traditions and conduct; establish databases of revolutionary resources and experts in revolutionary relics; explore, study and utilize revolutionary resources available; seek the joint building of first-class Party-building educational brands and deepen the exchanges and cooperation among the Sichuan Dabieshan Executive Leadership Academy, the Guangzhou Academy of Socialism, the Mount Ba Red Army Academy, the Sichuan Zhang Side Executive Leadership Academy, the Sichuan "Two Bombs and One Satellite" Academy and the Sichuan Xiaoping Executive Leadership Academy; build investment platforms for the development of revolutionary culture and tourism; explore and develop cross-regional tourism products and lines, and make all types of tourism resources more attractive; and advance the development of a tourism transport network.

Bazhong and Huang'gang of Hubei province, Hanzhong of Shaanxi province and Zhangye of Gansu province inked a deal on the building of a revolutionary cultural and tourism alliance to promote the development and utilization of their revolutionary cultural and tourism resources, expand their tourism market share, and collaborate on the research and development of revolutionary tourism products and talent cultivation in revolutionary cultural and tourism.

In addition, Sichuan and Shaanxi held a signing ceremony of important revolutionary cultural and tourism projects to further explore bilateral revolutionary cultural and tourism resources, strengthen their collaborative research in revolutionary culture, deepen exchanges and cooperation on revolutionary cultural and tourism resources, and promote the rejuvenation of revolutionary bases.
